The Arc Greater Twin Cities' Mission: To secure for all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families the opportunity to realize their goals of where and how they live, learn, work and play. Purpose of the Committee: The Arc Greater Twin Cities wants to grow the selfadvocacy movement in the 7 County Metro area. The Arc Greater Twin Cities needs leadership from talented and skilled members of the self-advocacy community to improve the organization’s purpose and work, and has provided a forum for self advocates to speak out on topics important to them and to learn from other selfadvocates’ experiences. These self-advocates are provided additional leadership and training opportunities to promote self-advocacy at conferences and events in the metro area.
Subjects include public policy and systems change, elections, transportation, education, employment, housing, safe relationships and more. Through their work with the committee, self-advocates, along with advisors, seek out additional leadership training and engagement opportunities.
